******WARNING spoilers ahead on the new "War of the Spider Queen book", "Sacrafice of the Widow" *******

Well I'm not going to go in to detail on what happens in the new book "Sacrafice of the Widow" by Lisa Smedman which continues the WOTSQ series, but for those of you who follow the Drow of the Forgotten Realms (Drizzt etc.) it may be pertinent information that the drow pantheon has drastically changed now....

1375 DR

Vhaeraun is dead and so is his son, Selvatarm. Both have been killed and absorbed by the hand of Eilistraee. This happened after a bold move by Eilistraee against Lolth in thier eternal sava game where she bet her existance on a single move. Vhaeraun interfered in the game and it cost him his life. Selvatarm died by the hands of an Eilistraeean priestess who was weilding the Cresent Blade and had help from the accursed Hallistra Melarn.

Yes, that's right. The Dark Maiden is now also the The mistress of Theives and the goddess of all the Vhaeraunites as well ...well those who dont jump off a cliff that is. The Dark Maiden has absorbed the other god's portfolios and has increased in power. There is a hint that she will rise to the status of greater goddess as Lolth has recently done.

So now its down to two prominent players.....Eilistraee and Lolth.

For further info you'll have to read the book, but I thought it might be pertinent info to the drow fans out there who do any art that may involve themes with the above gods.

Oooh....down to the light and dark side of Drow existence? While I don't read the books, I do play D&D and my Drow happens to worship Eilistraee. This will seriously adjust Theris' attitude in our game.

Thanks for the info!
