Greetings!

As a few of you who follow us may know, the admins of Lolth Scourge like to hang out on tumblr as well as DA. That'd be myself, CaptainMoony, and AzraelEvangeline.

Recently I discovered that there were no drow-centric blogs on tumblr! This of course was a crying shame and couldn't be left alone, so I went ahead and created one! It's only in its early days now so things are still fairly simple but I hope to have it grow and be the premiere source for drow on tumblr! C: I also plan on having its secondary function be to act as LS on tumblr. So future information about contests, etc may be updated there as well as here.

I'll be crossposting some deviations from here to the blog, with credit and links back of course. If any of you decide you'd not like to see your art there, just let us know and we'll avoid your pieces.

Here's the link for it as well as Az's and my personal tumblrs. If any of you aren't on tumblr yet ... why not? Now's the perfect time!

Actually ... let's create a list of Lolth Scourge members who are on tumblr! Just post your blog's URL and I'll add it to the list!

And I am sorry; look at my profile, and I explicitly apologized before you typed that reply ;)!

The points shouldn't be for art submissions, they should be for contests or for major projects like the card deck thing ya'll had. In my fan club I keep a point system, whoever has the most points at the end if the year I buy the winner a commission. The point system was inspired by this club. So it had it's uses.

And being in the ruling houses as long as I have, I never felt like rivals with anyone though things do need to change so that writers don't have to compete with drawings. As writing time and effort to read whereas a drawing gets immediate attention and easier to comment on. That's why I participate in Cress d'wiles yearly.

Personally the club is too big for the point system the way it was and should only be used in bigger more time consuming things and if the points are removed all together then something needs to take its place. Maybe do a monthly feature on someone's work who won a contest. Or for revamping the club contest give a month sub to the winner. Start a donation pool where the members can donate points so the club can award members for something that is deserved.

Thanks very much for your insight, Xull! You pointed out a lot of things that were involved in our decision to end the points system.

The club had simply gotten too large for the points the way they were. It had gotten too time-consuming and when Groups were enacted, we just couldn't recover and keep on top of things. That and the disparities between writing and drawing.

Thanks very much for your suggestions! We'd thought of some of them ourselves, so it's good to hear other members are thinking along the same lines. C:

ARGH!!!! Three years of strivings to be one of the 8 Ruling Houses only to be stopped short at 10!

Being a firm rejecter of all hierarchy and competition, I can't complain, but this was one of the few areas I was willing to break the rule. Ah well.

Heh, and that would be one of the reasons the system is now retired.

Hopefully the club will be just as enjoyable for you in the future, since we're still going to be doing a lot of community-oriented activities!

Oh, I quite enjoyed the points system as it gave a extra trill especially when its for the contests.
However I understand if it is causing discontent behind the scenes it should be retired. I hope it wasn't the reason for the period of inactivity.

Hopefully the things we'll be offering as prizes and awards in the future will make up for the points system. c:

It had a bit to do with the group's quiet time, but wasn't the only reason.

I'm glad you're back again! =)

The point system was kinda funny but I understand it drived to revality and suc things.
I guess mini-contest or challenge could be funny in order to keep the group active ^^

I could see how the points system wouldn't really fit into the new Groups system though I am still damned proud to have climbed to Top House [think I'm still owed a pic of Darnzii for buying the most subs for the club before heh] and this was the club that actually inspired me to be competitive whereas I'm normally not ambitious at all ^^; I think offering different features each month or different challenges might be fun. And trying to find some other way to play off the "Houses" idea. As it made sense to the drow theme and was unique to this club though perhaps we could try to find a way to make it so we aren't "demeaning" our fellows...as drowish as that is ;P Perhaps host little events to "Win Lolth's favor" and host mini contests of some sorts to win lil prizes "from Lolth" ?

We were definitely thinking of featuring different artists or themes each month. Doing monthly or bi-monthly challenges is a great idea too!

I definitely still want to incorporate the House aspect of LS, since it's unique and certainly a huge part of drow lore. That is exactly what we want to do though: find a way to make it so it's more community-oriented rather than player vs player.

Contests and mini-contests will still happen! Or should I say, will start happening again. ;D

It seemed like a way to inspire people to contribute more at least ^^;

Yeah I loved that this club had the Houses because it was very drow oriented. Though I can understand trying to be a bit more friendly ;P I'm not sure how to switch it up to be less player vs player but if I think up anything I'll drop a line ^^;

Ahhh, I liked the points system. :( My participation in the contests (and subsequent voting) was because of the points. Oh well, if not everyone can play nice, changes have to be made--I vote on eliminating the ones not play nice. ;)

Hoping to start submitting again soon(TM).

I actually liked the points thing, i thought it was a bit of fun, and i have never found this group to be nasty at all. I have always found it to be friendly and fun. I thought the points encouraged people more because it meant people would vote in the contests to get points and things.

The upping of the submission limit would be kind of cool though :)

There were many good aspects to the points. That's why the system worked for as long as it did.

There were also a lot of things going on quietly that most members such as yourself didn't always see. Trust me when I say that moderating the points and the position of houses, especially as you got higher in rank, tended to walk the line of friendly competition and spiteful contention. As I said, it was a hard decision but this is for the best.

The submission limit increase in already in effect.

I can imagine it being hard to moderate. And i am guessing i didn't see the worse of it, i got excited as i got higher up. I can see why you would want to get rid of it. But in other ways i thought it made the group rather different. But honestly as a whole, this group has been one of the friendliest groups i have been in. The other members that i have spoken to have been very lovely.

And cool i might submit some of my art then :)

We did like that the points system made LS different from other clubs. It's the reason I wrote in the journal that we were opening the floor for more than just complaints/happy comments.

We want our members' opinions and suggestions for things we can do to make this club really special, to replace the points system.

Maybe have the points system but change how it works. Like maybe you only get them for group actives rather then submissions. Like for winning contests. Voting for others in a contest and things like that. This that are community based? Personally i think that would be nice.

I just thought i would say what i thought on the matter, because at first i wasn't aware they caused any problems for the group, so that is why i was a little sad they where going.

Indeed! I'm glad you're enjoying all the lovely art so far! C:

And yes, we were more than happy to increase the limit of submissions. The '2 per month' limit was wholly dependent on the points system which is now, of course, defunct. So there was no reason to keep you wonderful artists restricted!

I have a little bit of a problem, i have done my entry but it won't like me suggest a fave because it says i can only submit one every 30 days. This is my entry though -> [link]

Are you allowed more then one entry? Because i have another stamp idea.

You are allowed more than one entry, but it looks like you've already submitted something to the club this month beside your entry so the club already so the system is glitching on you. I'll note the DA help desk about it but in the meantime, I'll manually add your piece to the contest favorites by faving it into my personal gallery then suggesting it as a fav to the club. :) If you have the issue again - just send me a personal note on my own account and I'll add it to the club the same way.

And cool i will work on the other entry when i get home ^^

The calender project has been shut down in favor of Lloun'az Haven since you were the only one who entered anything for last year. But don't worry though ;D When I moved the members list over to the new system I treated it as if you had won on all your entries and I gave your house the points for it. Your the 9th house now because of it XD
